Stopped in for dinner, really nice venue and food was all delicious with huge serving sizes. Couple of negatives but not a huge deals; ordering process was a little slow with a long line at the bar and we were informed there was only 1 wine list and they couldn’t find it. The food came out really quick and was all piping hot. Overall would go again View all feedback.
What Erin G doesn't like about Ramsgate Hotel:
Have just experienced a very arrogant ‘bar manager’, unhelpful and rude..it was like an inconvenience to be ordering food and drinks. Food is average, carpet is sticky, things are pretty unclean. One or two nice staff but the rest seem similar to the bar manager. View all feedback.
First Visit Had a stake sandwich- worst stake sandwich ever.3/10Second VisitHad the beef pie , potato and red wine jus.. 9/10Staff have always been friendly with good service, pricing is a bit rich for pub meals but your paying for the location.
Been living in the area for ten years plus .. had always been average However ..Finally new head chef in the last few months and the food is soooo much better Been here three times in three weeks , every time food has been great From seafood platter to salmon lucksa to baa baa lamsgate Every dish had been good Give it another go Won't be disappointedStaff are good too
Perfect Pub by the beach! This day the GF and I gave the same old rubbish in Glenelg a miss and went to Henley beach for a pint and a bite at the Ramsgate Htl. Having heard only a little about the place, we didn't have any expectations. The weather was stunning so we tossed up between the street side bar tables and settled for the sunny courtyard out the back. It was fairly quiet the day we were there and the place looks like it is geared for the sports mad 10 pints on a Sunday arvo type of punter. The actual dining area resembles a country NSW RSL and could have some more effort put into it to making it a little more enticing.<br/ <br/ The court yard has a lovely shade cover and has been furnished and designed to handle the hot climate. We started with the pulled pork nachos, which were perfectly balanced between spicy, cheesey, crunchy and zesty with a hint of natural yogurt rather than drowning in sour cream. For mains I had the Ramma Dama Ding Dong (also known as a seafood plate) which was about the best pub seafood ive eaten in a long while, the GF and i debated if the squid was real, it was so tender. It came with a lightly beer battered piece of barramundi and a skewer of flame grilled prawns, chips and a very well balanced side salad that was the perfect mix of sweet, sour and crunchy to break up the crispy batter. The slow cooked beef rib sandwich comes out very simple with an accompaniment of chips on some grilled crunchy bread, the hero of the dish was the beef as it was sticky and moist with a beautiful smoke flavour you can only get from treating it to a smoke bath for a few hours. Price wise its in the mid to higher end for a pub, the pints were $9 each and our meals were about $25 each. <br/ <br/ I read some of the other reviews about the Pub and cant really understand how it went so wrong, unless someone has changed up the menu and chef recently. We will definitely be going back!! <br/ <br/ Check out my insta @smithbeardco
I had lunch with friends yesterday and all of our meals were great and the service was friendly and efficient. I don't understand the negative reviews. We will be back!!
Good variety of options, especially for front bar dining.Pricing is more on the top end so they lose some points in the value for money category, but you are probably paying for location.Snapper with citrus aioli ticked all the boxes, except for the fact it came with no side of salad or veg which you'd expect for $25 in a pub!The Ram Burger, Crab Linguine and Chicken Salad also got a thumbs up from my fellow diners. 4/4 ain't bad.
