This is a great place to get your fries! Not only is the size of the order you get big but they are crispy, not soggy like some other places that don't cook their fries long enough.I have to say thanks to "Ben" who did up my fries extra crispy when I asked! View all feedback.
What Joanie Koch dislikes about Spud Shak:
I ordered the Ireland poutine and was disappointed to find that the fries were extremely dry and unappetizing. Others in my group also had the same experience with the poor quality of the fries. View all feedback.
My wife, kids, and I made a quick stop at Spud Shack on our way to see a musical in Huron Country. My daughter placed the order, choosing a regular Irish Poutine for me from the "Fries of the World" board. While the fries themselves were excellent, the toppings left something to be desired. Traditional poutine is supposed to be made with cheese curds, not shredded marble cheese, and there was a lack of both cheese and bacon. The absence of gravy also left much to be desired. My wife and daughter's classic Canadian Poutine also had shredded marble cheese, but at least it had gravy, which was decent. It would have been better if they had combined the two styles. Despite the mixed experience, I would be willing to give Spud Shack another chance next time we are in Grand Bend. Overall, we received exactly what was ordered, even though my daughter missed the mark.
We make it a tradition to stop by this restaurant every year for our "fix," but were a bit disappointed this time around. We visited at lunchtime on a Thursday and were surprised to find that they were out of pogo dogs. The toppings on the fries were delicious, but it just wasn't the same without the hot dog.
I been going here before i was even a spec of sperm. meaning my dad enjoys this place and has brought our family back here consistently everyyear of my life till i matured into making healthier food choices.Even now being an adult without my father influence on where to get fries, i still would suggest here as the classic Grand Bend place to get fries
I adore fresh cut fries so stopping here was a no brainier as soon as I saw it on our walk down the Grand Bend strip. We stopped in to try their Ireland fries (cheddar and bacon) but were told that they were out of bacon. On a Saturday. At a very popular beach. Huh. Ok, opted for their Italian fries (Parmesan and Marinara). The serving was small with overcooked fries sprinkled with fake Parmesan with a small dish of cold marinara. Not what we expected and with the lackluster service we won't be back.
We went back to the spud shack 3 times in one week, fries are the absolute best, and service was fast, the boys inside even wiped clean the tables outside for my kids. Definitely go back there again.
