What Ian Patel dislikes about Merchant Chippie:
I had lunch here last week, the setup and atmosphere was okay. Coming to food: fish was flaky and batter was crispy from the edges I liked it but chips were not hot, kinda soggy, and didn't feel like traditional! Service: the lady who took my order and served me was friendly. Another part I didn't that you have to buy mushy peas and tartar sauce separately plus they were not freshly made! All in all I would never vis... View all feedback.

We were searching for the famous deep fried Mars bar while in Glasgow and had read Merchant Chippie did them. I have to say it was delicious and even my sceptical partner was impressed. There's also seating available inside for those wanting to eat in and staff were friendly.

Nice chippy with seating inside. near a train station called High Street and just down the road from Cathedral, making it a good stop off point. Food was OK and reasonably priced. Service was friendly enough and was interesting to read from their menu, that the Merchant Chippie is one of Britains top 50 chip shops.

Called in here the other night when passing by and hungry. Sat down at a very flimsy table. Ordered what was stated on the menu as 'Haddock in Batter '. I know my fish and it certainly was not haddock and neither was it cod, or even whiting for that matter, obviously the cheapest fish at the market that day. To add insult to injury, the batter was soggy and ghastly. Never again.
