Far from the touristy downtown area, Barra Azul is a hidden paradise for foodies. Its menu includes fresh local ingredients cooked Baja style (aguachile, directo, burritos, ceviche) but also other guaranteed international dishes (risotto, pasta, carpaccio) with local seafood. Ask for the catch of the day with the recommended salsa. Simply amazing. View all feedback.
What Jane Monahan doesn't like about Barra Azul:
We came here on a dark Monday night. We had a little trouble finding it as there is no light on outside. It is a very small stone walled room with maybe 10 tables. The only people there was us and the waiter and chef. No one else the whole time. The menu is very good, the food very fresh and the servings plentiful. THE GOOD: Ambiance, service and all plates with fish. The Bad: Their margarita. The ugly: nothing. We order a fish soup and coconut shrimps, they both were excellent.
The food was so good. we tried the tomaten soup, it was brilliant, with a hauch of smoke. I had the seafood risotto (delicious,) my man the garnelen wonton (fabulös). kudos to the chef.
Ok, so by now if you have stay in Ensenada for more than two days you have eat at the guerrerense and maybe some restaurant in first street. But now lets start with the less known places in Ensenada and with good seafood and with...prices starting to rise. Good food for meal and the service is great. They have a day menu if you dont know what to order.
Came here because a friend recommended this restaurant to us. OMG where to begin? we had several dishes to share: baby scallops in a avocado infusion, warm octopus ceviche, fish ceviche and tuna tiradito- the best ever!!!. This is a foodie heaven. Chef shows his...passion for delivering the best. You can't fail here. A must when visiting Ensenada
