One of the best sushi places and dining areas. I’ve missed this place so much since it was mostly closed during the pandemic. It is more on the fancy side and the sushi rolls are exceptional. I’ve been here for over 10 times. They are super clean and this is one of the few places where you can comfortably eat sushi even the ones with raw fish. Their appetizers are great too! Especially the stuffed mushrooms. I can’t... View all feedback.
What Adele Mante dislikes about Maru Sushi - Downtown Detroit:
Worst service I've ever has at a restaurant. Will never return. My husband and I left after one round of drinks and an appetizer. The manager Toby didn't apologize once and reserved the same appetizer we sent back as a result of having no soy sauce for 5 minutes and the seared salmon belly nigiri was now cold. Coming from an employee who used to work at the East Lansing Maru, this is not the service I would ever have... View all feedback.
We held my sister-in-law's 40th birthday celebration in a cozy private dining room at this restaurant. It was a fantastic experience. They offered a variety of options catering to different dietary preferences, such as vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian. The only downside was that there were no vegan dessert choices. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The Archer dish was particularly popular among our group. We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned the following week for another meal.
Our dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional! Our server, Lauren, was welcoming and attentive. The food was outstanding - the honey garlic shrimp appetizer was so delicious that it could have been a meal by itself. I was particularly impressed by the Strawberry Basil Lemonade, it was so tasty that I had to order a second one. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant again in the future!
The sushi at this restaurant was delicious and the dessert was outstanding! The food overall exceeded expectations. The only issue was with the reservation time - we had a 7 pm reservation but were not seated until 7:40.
Located in the heart of downtown, this restaurant is the perfect place to indulge in sushi and a tasty beverage. Their drink menu features a wide range of cocktails, some even infused with soju and sake. The sushi offerings are fresh and varied, with seasonal options to choose from. For non-sushi lovers, there are alternative menu items available. The prices are affordable compared to other sushi restaurants. If you find yourself in Detroit, make sure to visit this establishment for a wonderful dining experience.
I brought my mother here for Mother's Day and the staff was outstanding! They reserved a lovely booth for us, which I found very considerate. It was our first visit and we had a fantastic experience. Our server, Drew, was excellent! He was warm, helpful, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of giving us space while keeping an eye on us. The woman who greeted us was also very welcoming and kind, although I didn't catch her name. The appetizers and sushi were delicious and beautifully presented. The only downside was that our hibachi steak was slightly undercooked. It appears they may have sous vide it and it didn't quite reach the right temperature by the time it got to us. However, the service and the rest of our meal were absolutely fantastic and we will definitely be returning. These things happen!
