this caffe is great! the service was very fast and I never had such fruity teacakes, all served with butter and jam. our coffees were also excellent and weed or soy milk is offered if they want. very friendly people run...this caffe too, I can't mistake it and will be back!
we were on our trip to the house from a holiday in the peak district and thought to eat something. we always try to support local caffes and discover this little gem. very friendly greeting from front house directed us on a selection of tables. to sit on everything clear what was recently cleaned. both had the complete English breakfast, which was all freshly cooked, very tasty and good and hot. the delicious teekanne was filled up. all ingredients are produced locally.
My partner and I visited the Black Cat Café during a walk through Matlock on my birthday and had a lovely lunch. We opted for this little café as we had our dog with us, and were warmly welcomed by the owner who kindly provided...a dog bowl of water and even served our lunch with a little scrap of bacon for our pup. The café itself is modest and cosy, but offers a good selection of food at a very reasonable price. I went off-piste and ordered a toasted teacake with baked beans and was gently teased by the owner for my unusual choice, but in a friendly way and was assured it was no bother! The beans were unfortunately pretty cold, but I appreciated the lovely service anyway and my boyfriend enjoyed cheese and ham toastie with chips. Would definitely visit again when in Matlock — thank you!
