"The price per adult is $34. We were expecting to walk into a $15 buffet, but we were tired and vulnerable so we sucked it up. At 6pm, we had friend chicken that looked like a petrified rock from the Badlands (see photo). This place is worse than the hospital cafeteria. By 7pm, the salad bar and soup pot were very low and not replenished. The dining room was clean and spacious and the staff was reasonably kind. This area is not only a desert, but a food desert, so your best bet is to buy food in Baker and bring it to your hotel. Seriously!"

"An oasis in the desert in fact that’s the new name for this elegant old line National Park lodge. Just like its counterparts at Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon it is a must visit place. It is undergoing a renovation, which is a good thing as it was becoming shabby elegant. Drinks on the deck at sunset terrific. So is dinner outside if you can snare a table. The dining room though is historic. Service is spotty. Food is surprisingly good although pretty much National Park style. A bit on the pricey side, but it’s a long way for supplies to come. A dress code for dinner, but it is not always enforced. They should either enforce it or do away with it. Go for the experience not the food, although the food is better than you expect."

"This place is in middle of no where (death Valley and based on that my expectations were low. I do not like steaks and half of my family is vegetarian so imagine having a steak house as an only option for dinner. And now add 4 kids under 10 and think again : . We all loved this place because they served kid friendly food and were accommodating and not snooty like some other nicer steakhouses. They even had some great vegetarian options. May not have the best steaks in the world but certainly is mindful of people who don't just eat steaks"
