Hog's Breath Cafe - City of Knox

Service was fine but steak isn't really for me. I love a char grilled steak with a nice pepper sauce but unfortunately this didn't really cut it. Not totally bad but not a steak to rave about!

Went to Hog's Breath expecting a fun time and were not disappointed. One of our group had a meal with spare ribs and steak (Hog's Breath's speciality) and got lots and lots of gristle in the meat. Disappointing, although he was offered a discount. Expected more consistent quality.

A few weeks ago my wife and I had lunch at the Hogs Breath Café in Knox City, Wantirna South.It was a Monday and we got there around 2.30 PM. The place was empty. May be we missed the lunch time crowd.There appeared to be just one young man serving. He was polite, quite friendly and explained the menu very well.My wife ordered the Lamb Shanks (the smaller version with one Shank) with mashed potatoes. I ordered the Seafood Platter (I am not sure as to what name they had given). It had crumbed Fish, Prawns, Calamari, and a crab cake. I asked for the fries with it and Tartare sauce.I must say that it was one of the best seafood lunches I have had for a long time. It was crisp, fresh moist & very tasty. I also found it quite filling; so much so, although I wanted to, could not manage the whole crab cake.My wife told me that the Lamb Shank was also very good & she enjoyed it very much.All in all it was a lovely meal; hats off to the chef.

The steak is grilled very well. It seems to be a slow-roasted type with a large amount. One person cannot finish a steak. There are many side dishes besides the steak. You can choose vegetables or chips. There are many varieties of drinks. Most of them are wine-containing. Enthusiasm will come over from time to time to ask you how you are eating. If you are not satisfied with the environment, it’s okay.

Food was good and brought out in a timely manner. Service was good, despite having 1 staff member roll their eyes when we asked if we could sit in a booth (the restaurant only had 6 of so tables occupied) For a cheap quick eat, we will be back
