★ 4.1 / 5 from 16887 reviews

The reviews for this restaurant and hotel in Chester are mixed. While some guests praised the food quality, service, and historical charm of the place, others were disappointed with the cleanliness, noise levels, and overall value for money. The restaurant was described as a tourist trap with high prices, while the hotel rooms received complaints about small size, lack of amenities, and noise levels. Overall, the staff were friendly and accommodating, but the mixed reviews indicate that some improvements may be needed in order to provide a consistently positive experience for guests.

How had I not reviewed this cosy pub/hotel after I came here on my last visit to Chester? This is the home of the Pied Bull brewery and I very much enjoyed

This is such a beautiful looking pub inside and out but after experiencing severe food poisoning for two weeks this place has left a bad taste in my

This used to be our favourite pub in Chester, and we have stayed here twice. However we 've been out of the country and thus not been here since 2019. It is not the same. Went for an evening meal. Beer (brewed on site and admittedly very good was £5.50 per pint which is about £1.20 £1.30 over the odds for this part of the country. Very limited menu with fish and chips at £17.95 (again ridiculous price locally . We had decided to 'suck it up ' (we had booked, after all but then they told they 'd run out of chips! How can a pub run out of chips? Admittedly manager(? was politely apologetic. It 's a city cente pub and was very quiet at 8pm on a Tuesday evening no surprise. A place to be avoided until they improve their menu and drop their prices by 20 30

Tourist trap. You will pay over the odds for a meal or a pint in this Oak Beamed Hotel. Lunch menu £17.95 for a single course and £5.50 for a pint of John Smith's Bitter. Locals seem to avoid the place as other premises are a lot cheaper. The choice is yours.
