Popular with the younger set, a good restaurant for seafood dishes and drinks including local PEI craft beers. Food is tasty, service is quick and efficient, even on a busy Saturday evening! View all feedback.
What Bill A dislikes about Fishbones Oyster Grill:
Group of 5, all had different meals. I had seafood chowder, 1/2 bowl or less for $18. Very little seafood, 3 or 4 scallops, 3 mussels, can’t remember anything else. The base was thin, more like skim milk. The very small biscuit was basically half cooked dough. Other meals barely passed as meals, certainly nothing to return for. Cannot recommend this restaurant and will not eat there again. View all feedback.
We sat outside on a lovely night. There was a jazz group playing across the street which was great. The street is blocked to cars, so that makes sitting outside much nicer. We enjoyed the food.
We went for a late lunch arriving around 1:30pm. It was not terribly busy there. We sat on the roof and about half the tables were occupied. It took 20-30minutes to get drinks and we gave up on our food order after waiting over 90 minutes. We ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches, one watermelon salad & kebab, and a chicken Caesar salad. I could have whipped all that up in minutes myself. We were offered only one drink refill during this time. Other than that, service was non-existent other than to tell us in passing that our food would be a few more minutes at the 60 minute mark. It was the first time ever we have had to cancel our order in a restaurant and leave. We also saw the lunch specials on the sign outside as we were leaving and no one mentioned them when we were being served. Had it been busy and if the waitress had been more attentive, we would have been very forgiving. Instead, there was a hostess standing 3 feet from our table for the majority of our time there twiddling her thumbs and sipping a glass of water. Seriously?? If your waitstaff can't manage the table properly, it's a no-brainer to get your hostess helping out while keeping an eye on the hostess stand. Anyway, don't waste your time here. We went to Peake's Quay the next day and ate on the deck there and it was lovely. Food may not be memorable but the atmosphere and service is fantastic!!
My husband and I went in for lunch while in Charlottetown on vacation. We had a great experience! There were many Gluten Free options which is always a nice surprise in a restaurant and the service was excellent. We shared the Potato Nachos to start which were good and happily they were generous with jalapeños:)Then we both had the Fish and Chips (these are Gluten Free). Well, my husband (who is not GF) and I agreed that the fish was fantastic! I haven't had battered fish in a restaurant in many years, and watching others eat Fish and Chips while eating out in the Maritimes is always a source of secret jealousy...but no more! The fish was light, fresh and flaky and the batter was golden, tasty, light and crispy. My husband said it was one of the best battered fish he'd ever eaten! I was completely and excitedly satisfied to find and have battered fish that were even better than I remembered them being!
We grabbed lunch on the day we arrived in PEI. The portions were HUGE, the price was reasonable and the service was friendly.
We decided to have a light lunch and decided to eat on the roof top of Fishbones. Some of us had white sangria, it tasted very refreshing on a warm summer day. One of our group didn't get the drink ordered and got an iced berry tea instead...but tasted ok, but not what was ordered. The food on the other hand, was excellent. A couple of us ordered a goat cheese salad with carmelized onions and toffeed almonds with added chicken....yummy!!! One of us had a chicken cesear wrap and the dressing was on the side and was very good because you could determine how much dressing you put on it. Really enjoyed the location (and there was a person playing the piano on the street below that we could hear) and a perfect pick me up.
