I ordered corn fritters and he ordered a big serve of smashed avocado with bacon. The Neal took around 15 minutes. Taste was fabulous. Fresh, good portion size and presentation was great. Service was fast. Wheelchair and kid friendly. Good coffee (of course - its Lygon Street). Service was excellent. Will return.

I went to University Cafe this Saturday night with a group of friends.Everything was ok, although the place was packed, until this man that I assume to be the o... read more I went to University Cafe this Saturday night with a group of friends.Everything was ok, although the place was packed, until this man that I assume to be the owner, started to scream in front of a waitress in such a rude and loud way that I don t wanna repeat the words he said.We were shocked!!!!! This is so unprofessional and so disgraceful if we think that we are in 2017 and no one should talk like that to a young woman, especially screaming in front of people that are having their meal.Was a terrible experience and if we wouldn't have already eat, we would have left straight away!I hope i will never have the chance to assist to such a low level show in a restaurant again.For sure I will never come back!

We ate upstairs, and the vibe is classic Italian cafe, with affordable hearty food. We opted for the house red and white (probably a mistake) but the food was very well presented and hearty. The spatchcock was perfectly cooked and delicious. Other friends were very happy with the risotto and pasta dishes. This is good, wholesome Italian food for a very reasonable price. Long may it flourish!
