My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at this restaurant with friends from Edinburgh. We had an excellent experience overall, from the warm welcome to the attentive service throughout the evening. The food was intriguing and varied, matching the high quality of the service we received. This is definitely a restaurant we would visit again and would recommend to all our friends and family. What User dislikes about The Cambridge Chop House:
For my starter, I had the stuffed quail, and it was delicious. I then ordered the hanger steak for my main course. Although I couldn’t finish it, it was also quite tasty. The food itself was really delicious and cooked to perfection; however, we definitely needed more time between courses. Overall, I was left feeling dissatisfied with the service, which really impacted our evening. We had hoped to enjoy more time in... View all feedback.

Perfect dinner place for celebrating a beautiful May day. Do not miss out on their set menu, available from Monday to Thursday, before 6:30pm. We went for the two-course set, with a cauliflower soup as the starter. Rich and delicious, great combination with their house bread. A little bit salty but overall it’s quality stuff. We then got the butler steak and the pan fried coley. I would particularly recommend the steak, which is very tender. Service is excellent too! Nice experience overall!

We absolutely loved it! Our office recently had an away day, and we chose to have lunch at The Cambridge Chop House. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. Natasha, who handled our booking, was incredibly accommodating, despite the numerous changes I had to make to the reservation time. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by all the staff. The menu offered a great selection—enough variety to satisfy everyone's tastes without overwhelming us. Out of curiosity, I decided to try the deep-fried haggis for my starter, my first time trying haggis. It was enjoyable, although I must admit it's not to everyone's taste. For my main course, I opted for the ribeye, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My Director was particularly impressed with his chateaubriand. As for dessert, I indulged in The Chop House Mess, a delightful pavlova topped with berry sorbet—truly refreshing! Those who ordered the brownies are still raving about how delicious they were on Monday. All in all, a unanimous five-star rating from our group of fifteen. Well done, The Cambridge Chop House!

Visited on a Saturday evening after spending the day in Cambridge. We were shown to our table downstairs and through a tunnel to what can only be decorated as a cave, we loved it. Our table of 6 and space for probably two smaller tables so we felt special and could make as much noise as we wanted! Christophe was our waiter, he was amazing. A real credit to the place! All food ordered was amazing, I would recommend the lamb chop and the pinot noir! Although pricey, it was very good value for money in our opinion. Was lovely to see a busy restaurant and everyone around enjoying themselves. We will definitely return when next in Cambridge.

We ordered off the set menu. I had the sausage with greens and mash potato . I think, from the look and taste of it , it had been heated up in a microwave ….. the gravy was thick and shiny, almost that you could have stood your fork up in it. My friend had fish cake, hollandaise sauce with chips and salad. It arrived with every component on the same plate , a very liquid sauce with lettuce and chips soggy! We pointed this out to the manager who then bought a small bowl of very ordinary salad and a separate container of chips. He was about to disappear leaving her plate with soggy mess in front of her. We suggested she needed a clean plate at which point he grabbed a side plate replaced the Soggy plateful with it, tipping the fish cake onto it. After a few minutes we had lost any appetite we had . Eventually another waiter came and asked if we had finished . We stated our disgust with the food and their action . The ‘manager’ , he who had dealt with the soggy plate ,appeared again. Having listened to our complaint he did offer, on the house , the cheese board and another glass of wine as recompense. Finally we were only charged the pice of one set menu. I have visited this Chop house numerous times over many years apart from the last 2 years. On each previous occasion it has always been excellent so it was extremely disappointing this time. Perhaps it has come under new management or new chef ? We will no be going there again.

We visited the restaurant to celebrate my son's university graduation. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table close to the mens' toilet. As the evening progressed, increasingly pungent defecatory aromas from the toilets mingled with those of our meal. The effect was MOST unpleasant. I complained. The restaurant apologised, explained their cleaning routine for the toilets and encouraged us to visit again.

The Cambridge Chop House, part of the Cambscuisine group, is a renowned dinner spot located in the heart of Cambridge. Despite being in a touristy area, it consistently delivers excellent food, ambience, and service. It is a local favorite for traditional British Sunday roasts and offers a wide range of British food. The Eagle, an historical pub, offers a few vegan options and is popular with tourists and locals. Overall, both restaurants are highly recommended for quality meals and a relaxed atmosphere in Cambridge.

We really enjoyed the chop house. Nice selection of meats from all kinds. Good service, a nice lunch menu and alcohol options as well. A good pick if you are into a steak or other meats while in Cambridge. Both the steak and the ham were great, thanks a lot

SOOO tasty perfect warm hug on a Sunday. The Sunday roast was so delicious. I feel like it was missing something though. Maybe some roasted garlic and/or stuffing? We also got the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The drinks were great too would recommend their dessert cocktails.

Good restaurant, with a variety of choices. Was very happy with the food and drinks. The staff were very nice and helpful. Great view on the main square if seated upstairs (would certainly recommend that).

Have not been to the Chop House for years but really enjoyed my last visit. All members of staff we came across with were very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious as usual. We opted in for a set menu and I had a mackerel salad which reminded me of Niçoise salad, with an egg, plenty of mackerel and French beans, my friend enjoyed Haggis fritters. For the main I had a ham hock which came with thick cut chips, they were crispy from the outside and fluffy inside and runny yolk duck egg, absolute perfection. Dessert was a classic Sticky toffee, I have had it many times in the past and was pleasantly surprised that the recipe hasn't changed, it is absolutely delicious, generous portion swerved with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce. We really enjoyed our meal and service from the moment we arrived and left. Thank you

Argh all our food came out within 20 minutes. Thats nibbles, starter and main meal. I couldnt digest it fast enough, so didnt eat all my main. Very dissapointed. Complained to manager who said that he has requested the kitchen to slow down. A bit late for us though! I had the potted squiral for starter and that was lovely. Then hanker steak for main but although i couldnt finish it, it was lovely. Couldnt fault the food, it was really tasty and cooked to perfection. But really could have done with more time between the meals. Im really dissapointed by the service and it ruin our night, as we had hoped that we could spend more time at the chop house, but were finished within 25minutes of arriving. And £70 down. Its quite expensive to dine there so was a treat for me and my hubby.

My wife and I, visiting from Hove, celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this restaurant with friends from Edinburgh. We received a warm welcome, and the service was outstanding throughout the evening. The food was not only interesting and diverse but also matched the high quality of service we experienced. We would definitely return and recommend this restaurant to all our friends and family.

Great food and service, lovely ambience. Handled a garlic allergy well, waitress helpful and knowledgeable about menu.

The restaurant has a fantastic location, and the best seating is definitely at the downstairs tables, unless you specifically want a view of Kings. The service from the waitstaff was excellent, especially the team members who took our order. They did a great job of explaining the unique steak cuts and even showed us raw examples on a display board!

The bread and oil with balsamic vingar were excellent to nibble on beofre our mains arrives. We then both chose fish from the 'specials ' menu; one halibut and one monkfish. Both were very well cooked, most tasty and served with interesting sides. Highly recommended. We were going on to the theatre and let our waitress know that we had to finish our meal in good time and she ensured that we were served and had plenty of time for a leisurely coffee to end our meal. Overall a very pleasing experience

We booked a table for 5pm.on a Saturday evening as I knew it would be busy. Lucky we had as mad busy and people sitting on our reserved table but staff soon saw them off. Most people were drinking not eating so food came quickly and was enjoyed by all. Very nice evening. Thank you all at the Bath House.

Great ambience that invites you to stay. Totally rustic and really cozy. The dishes are delicious, but sometimes a little expensive. The BBQ Chicken has tastefully irritated me.

The food was amazing, absolutely delicious. A little bit pricey, but definitely worth it. The staff was super nice, and when I asked about gluten they brought me the gluten free menu. They are well educated on celiac disease.

It was delightful to enjoy a roast dinner, but I was disappointed to once again miss out on Yorkshire pudding. It is definitely possible to make a delicious gluten-free Yorkshire pudding.

They have a separate Gluten Free menu and seemed quite familiar with Celiac disease. I had the sirloin steak. An amiable waitress (from Brazil) kindly spoke with us for ten minutes about her own food allergies and the importance of preparing food for people with special needs. The meal was excellent—including GF deserts of sticky toffee and strawberry cheesecake. They also had GF wines. I had no adverse reaction after the meal.

The Cambridge Chop House is a fantastic option for those looking for gluten-free dining. This restaurant is part of the Cams Cuisine group, which operates eight pubs and restaurants in the Cambridge area. Their menus are clearly labeled with gluten-free options, and the staff are attentive to allergen concerns. The gluten-free menu offers a variety of dishes including fish, chicken, and steak, with a few vegetarian/vegan options available as well. They also have a selection of gluten-free desserts such as Eaton Mess, burnt cream, brownies, and a delicious sticky toffee pudding. I highly recommend reserving a table upstairs for a great view of King's Parade, and also checking out their other sister pubs!

Great option for gluten-free and dairy-free food. The waiters are nice and attentive, and they understand guests' dietary restrictions well. The menu is well-suited for those with dietary restrictions. The prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality of the food and service.
