"We went to this restaurant whilst staying in Calheta, we ended up going multiple times during our trip. The staff were amazing very welcoming and friendly especially one women in particular , couldn’t remember her name but she spoke multiple languages and use to live in guernsey. The cocktails were lovely and the deserts were the best in town. Nice atmosphere, good view of the marina. The cocktail of prawns was to die for, best prawns on that strip of restaurant"

"We stumbled across O Fio while exploring the west of Madeira, and visiting as many miradouroa as we could. We followed a sign from the main road down through a village the signs got more and more rusty as we drove down, and started to wonder what we would find. However, we pulled up in the car park and, as well as stunning views along the coast, we were very taken with the cafe, its beautiful herb garden (which is used in their dishes), and the delicious smell of the home cooked food. We decided we 'd change our plans (which had been to eat near our hotel in Calheta) and asked for a table. We were served by a member of staff who was inviting, friendly and helpful. I ordered the scabbard fish in wine and garlic (a house speciality) and my wife had an omelette. Both were delicious with a lovely fresh salad and chips (I opted for chips instead of potatoes with the fish). There was a small but tempting set of home baked desserts. The huge wedge of lemon cake was beautifully moist with a lemon drizzle soaked into the sponge and the dense, warm, chocolate cake was a real delight. One of our favourite meals of our holiday, and we 'd very much recommend it to anyone in the area. It 's a busy little place, and for good reason. The only thing to be aware of is that they don 't take cards or at least not on the day we visited. We had cash with us though, so that wasn 't a problem."

"Where to start…lovely and surprising place in the mountains near the 25 fontes. Even though frequented by hords of hikers it has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly, kind and flexible. But now for the food: The spaghetti carbonara were likely the best I ever had. And the tarte da nata…."
