"I asked the woman at the till if the restaurant was halal. She kindly answered a yes. I trusted her so I ate the chicken options which she confirmed were halal. What really worried me was the fact that I didn't see any halal certification or ask if there was any alchohol in some of their food. It was a delicious experience however and the food was well made and fresh. It was great and all, I'm just not sure if I was allowed to actually eat the food I never took a picture sorry"

"We booked up a table for 7 adults on Sunday 9 April at 14:30. We really love coming here as the Sunday Roasts are just simply superb. This weekend was also the local Beerex at The Alfred and the ales on offer were excellent and has set me up quite nicely for the April Farnham Beer Festival. The prices of the Sunday Roast have been put up now and half a Roast Chicken with all the trimmings will set you back £20. If you opt for Lamb, Beef or Pork this will set you back £21. They also offer a triple meat option Beef, Lamb and Pork for £23. Some people will think the cost of a roast here is quite expensive, when there are other places around Farnham that offer very similar roasts for £14/£15. That is a true fact as we have eaten many roasts at several other places around Farnham which have been really good and priced as stated. However we just find the atmosphere, staff and portions offered here tip the balance in its favour. We have never been able to have either a starter or a dessert here, as the mains are literally so big and filling. For example with the half Roast Chicken you will get a portion of stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding which has had gravy already put with it. Then the vegetable dishes arrive with superb cauliflower cheese, a dish of roasted carrots with parsnips and peas/green beans with cabbage etc. You will also get your own personal small jug of extra gravy to drown your veg and roast potatoes. If you have never been here before, I would highly recommend, but be sure to book well in advance, as the place is always busy. We have on several occasions had to take a table slot time to fit in with The Alfred, as slots are booked up fast. When we arrived on this visit all the tables were in use again and tables in the bar area were in use as well. Thank you for yet another great Sunday Roast experience."
