After having a not so good experience at the Makimono in Pickering a couple of years ago, I wasn't to sure when our friends suggested to go to this one for dinner.It was a far cry from last time.The tempura was hot, I can't remember when I ate hot shrimp or yam tempura hot. The sushi was very good and my husband who doesn't eat sushi, loved the teriyaki and other grilled and fried beef, pork and chicken dishes.There were a couple of items missing that I'm used to from other Sushi places, but there dessert list made up for that.Service was fast and friendly.I'm sure we will go there again.
IPads for menus but no Debit? Maybe something that should be mentioned when someone calls for take out. An obvious cash grab as you get directed to the cash service fee rich ATM in the vestibule. Last visit.
The ratio of rice to other sushi ingredients is way too high. It's like they're trying to fill you up on inexpensive rice and not the tasty accompaniments/ fillings that make great sushi. Expensive for the quality and the fact that it is mainly rice.Also found the iPad used for ordering was off putting since it was quite dirty and disgusting. Loaded with previous users' fingerprints and bits of food.
Not quality food...except for the sushi, which was fine. Not a fan of their deep fried veggies or deep fried tofu (which was disgustingly mushy inside.
The sushi was just ok - the iPad that we had to use to place our order was filthy...it had food bits stuck to it and greasy fingerprints all over it....disgusting! Then we were told that if we didn't turn the iPad a certain way, the waiter wouldn't know that we were ready to place the order??? The second time we tried to order, the food never came even though we followed the instructions and the waiter did come over to do something on the iPad. We paid the bill and will not be back.
