Sami's is a fairly new BYOB restaurant in Berkeley Heights that has received mixed reviews. While some diners praise the delicious food, excellent service, and charming atmosphere, others have experienced long wait times, disorganization, and declining food quality. The restaurant offers a welcoming and cozy setting, with attentive staff and mouth-watering dishes. Specials are highly recommended, as well as modifying dishes to personal preferences. Despite some inconsistencies, many patrons plan to return and enjoy the carefully prepared meals by Sami and his chef. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant tends to get busy.

The pappardella was excellent, while the trout was nothing special (no sauce, no mandling, not even butter on the fish). we arrived at 6:00 a.m. on a Friday night and had the place for us until 7:00 a.m. parking was easy. for the price we would expect more.

Although we haven't been back in this facility for some time, our previous visits were pretty good. this time my wife and I both felt it was overpriced for a byob. the portions were small, and the food was good not to die. the menu is limited, and the prices were high for this type of restaurant. we will not go back.

Very impressed by service. the meals were excellent, freshly prepared. they are willing to honor accusations to change a court. to.have a restaurant in berkely raise this kalibers. this was our second visit, will return definitiw. .

Has not delivered our order together or as described. Slowly. deorganized. eat in order, but not worth the effort of everything else. I will not come back

We love BYO restaurants and try to dine at a new one once a month. Sami's was our next stop on the BYOB list. It is a fairly new restaurant, open about a year. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was cordial, engaging in a quick conversation about wines , as he opened and poured our wine. To start, we split a wedge salad with bacon, blue cheese and cherry tomatoes. The salad with bleu cheese dressing was tasty and fresh but the tomatoes were not cherry tomatoes, instead pale slices of a seemingly hot house variety. Our grilled octopus, while seasoned nicely, was not baby octopus but instead large tentacles which were quite chewy. My entree of rainbow trout stuffed with crab meat and spinach was cooked to perfection and presented nicely. I made the mistake of not inquiring about the sides that came with the dish. A nice plate of potato wedges came out, but I was not able to eat them. The server and chef were very accommodating and swapped out the potato for grilled eggplant. The second entree was the cavatelli with lamb ragu, a nice choice if you like homemade pasta. Sami's pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and the ragu was hearty and flavorful. We finished our meal with coffees and a dessert. My only recommendation to the server is to canvass the tables and replenish the wine for the patrons. It is a nice touch for a BYO and greatly appreciated by the guests.
