I really like this place. It is reasonably priced and good quality. The fish is great, the batter not greasy and the chips cooked to perfection. Very happy to find this after Sweet Lips in Leederville went bad (more expensive and very very greasy). I...like that they only charge you $1 for condiments instead of $2. I really like that they sell other meals eg lasagna and deserts like sticky date pudding that are avail... View all feedback.
What Alexie Breitenberg dislikes about The Old Trout:
The restaurant is nicely clean, but everything feels a bit too robotic and rushed. The fish was weighed at 140 grams. The chips were small, uneven, and undercooked. Overall, despite the decent quality of the fish, it felt a bit overpriced for what was offered. View all feedback.
Lately were some fish and chip shops, bad battery and soggy chips. the old trout had nothing of it, the chips were crisp and tasty and the fishbatter was perfect. also the fish was very generous. can be highly recommended...Trout

Love eating that we get from here. our fish and chips in basso. more and more fish than we ask and we demand our chips to be extra crispy. so good

This is our favorite place for fish and chips in the Basso neighborhood. The fish is always tender with a delicious batter. I prefer crispier chips, but you can request them. The staff is lovely. We usually order 2 servings, which is enough to feed 3 of us.
