Outstanding kitchen that turns out excellent fresh seafood, though since items are more inspiring than others. The crab cake remains exemplary, and I frankly regret not ordering it when I get anything else. The seafood salad is impressive but boring. The crab soup is all spice, no subtlety. When in doubt, get the crab cake. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner View all feedback.
What Alvina Crooks dislikes about Thames Street Oyster House:
First time dining here after years of reading hype. Kind of odd greeting from the hosts. I’m sure they are constantly turning away walk ups, but we didn’t feel welcomed until they knew we had a reservation. Our service was rushed. We ordered soup first, and our entrees were out and the server wanted to clear our soup before we were halfway finished. I ordered a crab cake because in Maryland that’s the bar. It was jus... Food was really yummy I had a citrus cocktail and the black angus steak. My date had oysters and some type of fish which he really liked and typically is super picky. Portion size was good and price was about what you'd expect on the waterfront!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Great food and awesome selection of oysters.
Excellent food, excelllent service. Charming venue. But small book ahead and do not expect to walk in and get a table we had to wait for our seat at the bar. I had the crab cakes that were light and fluffy and scrumptious and my wife had a lobster roll. Both were tasty and well presented.
We hit the jackpot and finally got reservations to Thames! We were seated immediately for our reservations! We sat upstairs. Our server Claudia was top notch! She was a rockstar from start to finish! She had that menu memorized from front to back and was so extremely helpful. She kneeled next to our table and went through the menu answering every question we had. She thoroughly impressed us! Her recommendations were extremely helpful. Thames had a huge variety of oysters to choose from. The table loved them! Their sangria was oh so flavorful, fruity and yummy! The calamari was tasty and was a great serving size to share! The fried oysters were okay. The ceviche was very delicious just wish the serving size was larger! We ate it with crackers. The Lobster roll and fish and chips we ordered were also very tasty as well! We were so happy with our experience! So worth the wait. Highly recommended! Make your reservations now! You won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food and set in a very interesting part of Baltimore. Crab cake was the best I have had.
