"Was staying in the village of Denstone so decided to try this place for some food. Choice was not extensive but the homemade steak and ale pie was really tasty. The burger was slightly burnt and disguised by turning it on its side but did...have a really nice taste. The gammon dish was really tasty as well."

"Great day out, cheap deal on Merlin pass, otherwise very overpriced. Nice walks and attractions. Pays best off weekdays and out of holidays to avoid big queues. Visit of castle should be a must and lovely walks in gardens. Good food options."

"Decided to try the Bulls Head in Alton on August 1st wish we'd never bothered really. There wasn't many people dining some of the meals others had would have easily been enough for 2 people. I ordered popcorn prawns with sweet chilli sauce mayo (never saw any) to be fair they were nice. Choice was limited i chose a Greek salad to accompany my prawns what a let down it was. The salad consisted of about 70 olives, what seemed a full pack of feta, a few thin slices of tomato some finely chopped onion. It was so bland watery nothing like a proper Greek salad should be. My cousin lived in Crete for years hers taste a million times better (not joking either). 2 stars due to the prawns being ok (otherwise would be 1 star). Sadly, we'd hoped for better."

"Not having been for a while we ended up visiting three times within a matter of weeks, the first two occasions with family and friends and then in a party of a dozen or so relative strangers. The good thing about the C&H is that it's very reliable. There's always plenty of choice and the already extensive menu is augmented by a frequently changing specials' board. Focusing on the group meal it was impressive to see such a diverse range of meals brought out at once, to the same high standard, as none of the food had been preordered. Service was excellent polite, courteous, helpful and timely. I think that's all to be said!"

"Visited for breakfast in Alton Towers. We sat right away, even though the tables are too close together, we pulled Nester a window. It could definitely be more space between tables than very cramped. The selection of foods was fine with cereals, toast, pastries and 2 hot buffet areas. I asked for gluten-free grain and got some and offered gluten-free toast and sausages without asking what was good. Overall, the selection and quality was OK, although might have been a bit more extensive"

"We visiting on Valentine’s Day for a night away and dinner. The tasting menu here is excellent I wish I’d got more photos. Highlights were the venison (perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced with sweet onion, mustard mash and a red wine and juniper sauce) and the edible chocolate box desert. Their Tempura oysters were perfectly crispy and something I’m going to have more of! The paired wine was one of the best I’ve had, and generous servings too. . Full English breakfast was beautifully presented with the best quality ingredients. The rooms are big and spacious with well appointed bathrooms and spectacular views over the fields. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back."
