"Expensive place,now under new ownership and called Cafe Bistro.Really really expensive and food Not worth it.Nothing to be remembered.Also very quite at all times.Decor very poor.Lacks atmosphere.They play at we are a coffee shop in the morning ,we are a restaurant later on...no identity."

"A review for the pub/restaurant...a step up from regular pub food. It's in a beautiful location on the edge of town near the McPherson Clan museum, closest to the rail station (1.1 km away). There was an event going on so the service was crazy slow, 45 minute wait for our meals. The restaurant is cute and clean. A head's up that you have to order at the bar, there aren't waitstaff to take your order. The gold stout was cold and refreshing. The zucchini soup was lightly spiced and the bread tasted freshly baked, inside steaming, melted the butter immediately. The Cullen skink, creamy without being buttery; smokey, smooth, and delicious. The pulled pork hot dogs were more like pulled pork on top of sausage. The bun was not toasted, quickly became soggy with the sauce from the pulled pork and pickled red onions., which kept getting stuck to the back of my mouth/teeth. The chips were perfect! The coleslaw had too much mayo on it that I didn't particularly enjoy. The salad was undressed and basic. Overall, an enjoyable and creative meal."

"We work in the village and almost every day get toasties and suppe to lunch. they are always really well filled and the salate and the koleslaw is always fresh. we love it!"

"We walked round the town first before chosing Cafe Bistro and, for a small Scottish town, found it to be surprisingly good for late lunch. Interesting menu included excellent soup, as others have found, and dishes with fresh ingredients all well prepared and presented. Pleasant and efficient service and good clean toilet. Would have liked to try the evening menu but had to move on, unfortunately. Thanks to all."

"We enjoyed a hearty lunch in the Tuck shop. The menu is simple but everything was freshly cooked . The café is interesting with paperbacks for sale for , for anyone who had run out of holiday reading , jars of old-fashioned sweeties and..., of course , a wildcat ! My husband left behind his cap . When we went back for it , the owner said he was going to bring it round to the place where we were staying . So there's kindness as well as good plain food at the Tuck Shop café."
