"New management and staff were very welcoming. Typical warm village pub atmosphere with a little something extra. This was my second visit since they took over. We went for Sunday lunch and enjoyed every part of it. "Was hoping for a comfortable early evening meal for the family on Saturday. Could not book an Apriary table because it was a themed Caribbean night . Never mind, let 's go! 3 things spoilt it: virtually no seating left, incredibly noisy – due to music and density of people, and took absolutely ages – 50 minutes – to order then get food! But my airline mutton and rice was tasty; staff were friendly. Unlikely to return."

"This was a return visit, and this time we stayed overnight in the cottages. I have to say we were completely blown away by the entire experience. Staff so helpful, so kind, so friendly. What an asset to the business and nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation lovely. So many thoughtful touches such as fresh crusty bread and butter, choccies, coffee, eggs, drinks, wine, quality cosmetics in the bathroom, authentic furnishings and design. Food sublime, balanced, flavoursome, fabulously presented, creative. Wine all excellent. Expertly chosen by the friendly sommelier and explained to us in a non stuffy way. Verdict WOW! Just WOW! We are already planning a return visit. Looking forward to it already : Thank you to the entire team at Johns House for a memorable night!"

"We didn't eat here but of what food I saw it looked good. The service was excellent and plenty of locals made the atmosphere welcoming. Dogs are allowed with plenty of outside seating. As you can see from photos some unusual guests inside. Parking: I don't have a car but saw cars parked around the area. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a slope leading to the pub so easy for wheelchair access and prams etc. Price per person: £1–10"
