"As an early birthday contract, my daughters took me out last night for Indian food. We went to Jewel In The Crown in Newburyport and I must say that it was some of the best Indian food I've ever eaten in my life! Everything was so fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. You have hands down the best chicken basket I've ever tasted. Very tasteful, delicate and not the little dry. I will eat all that we eat down; Muligatawny rich tasteful broth, many spices through, perfect amount of salt. Excellent crown mixed appetizers: Vegetable pakora, Vegetable soup, aloo tikki, Cheese pakora, Chicken pakora, Meat Samosa Chicken Cabob and Fish pakora everything was hot, crispy and well seasoned. I especially liked the Samosa dough.. it was light and flakey chicken bhuna: Boneless chicken pan roasted with onions, tomatoes, peppers with spices: chicken was perfectly boiled, beautiful amount of spices and heat (I got medium level vegetables boiled crunchy tender. Yum everywhere! Lamb corma: Lamb curry in creamy sauce cooked with cashews and raisins enriched. This could have been my favorite dish of the night (although to get tho! the lamb was tender and the sauce was amazing! I had corma from many other Indian restaurants, but that's the best I ever tasted from far. I could have eaten the sauce myself from the spoon! So tasteful, little heat (medium level again.. Perfection. Coconut basil shrimp: This was on the special menu, it is shrimp cooked in a Coconut basil sauce. That was my daughter's favorite dish at night! We were told by an employee that it was actually one of their most popular dishes lately. I can see why. Delicious sauce.. rich, creamy with a wonderful taste depth of all spices used. good amount of huge shrimp also. You do not skip here on portions or quality that is safe! We also have garlic naan and onions naan at our meals. It was good.. not great. I liked it, but for me it was a touch dry and could have used some salt. But generally still very delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and well maintained and is located in a beautiful old brick building. Prices were also very reasonable. We have a big appetizer, 3 meals and 2 full orders from Naan and the total (including taxes came only to 88 dollars! All in all a good meal / experience. If you want something really delicious Indian food, then I recommend you try this place!"

"Loved this place! Went with a group of two couples with kids and were seated outside. Both the interior and exterior were tastefully decorated and halfway through our meal, live musicians showed up. The service was fast and the food great! All the adults loved their main dishes--we got a few curries, fried rice, and noodle dishes. The appetizers weren't as impressive--the dumplings and spring rolls were just ok. It was our server's first day on the job and she was very kind and attentive. We will definitely be back next time we're in town!"
