My Korean School Lunch of Steamed Garlic Pork, Meatball and Rice Cake Soup, and Various Banchan!

can clearly see the difference in culture and attitudes between here and other countries, Korean food isn’t my number 1 choice but I’d be happy as hell and proud if this was my school lunch.

Starting top left: garlic steamed pork (마늘보쌈), braised tofu (두부양념조림), seasoned green onion and beans sprouts (파채콩나물무침), kimchi (김치), samjang (쌈장), lettuce for wrapping the pork (상추) rice (밥), meatballs tteok soup (미트볼만두국), cucumber pepper (오이고추), pineapple (파인애플), oatmeal and pineapple yogurt (한끼오트 파인애플 요구르트) FAQ answers: Yes it's a school lunch I'm a teacher but the students eat pretty much the same thing. No I didn't make it No there are not vegan options (afaik) No there are not allergy options (afaik) The yakult is only served some days It's a high school It's a private school Students pay nothing! (Teachers pay $3-4) Even though it's a private school, students do not pay tuition or anything like that Banchan is the Korean word for side dish Most of the lunches are around 800-900 calories I'm not sure where you can buy the tray from in your country. I recommend online

• 2 years agoIt's awesome seeing healthy school lunches! I had healthy lunches at school too, but seeing some posts about the US meals (like microwaved pizza with milk) makes me kinda sad. Food education is education too!
