Here’s the recipe of sorts, tbh it’s just a random meal I threw together, so there’s not really a recipe as such. I had a really hankering for gravy and mashed potato and wanted a Sunday Lunch, but I didn’t have any joints of meat in. However I did have a piece of sirloin steak in the fridge, so I thought I’d stick that in some gravy and build the lunch round that. I chopped up 6 small onions and fried them gently in some oil for 15 mins or so and then high for a minute or so to get them a little browned and then set them aside. At the same time I cooked the steak like I normally do - seared it all over, then fried it for a couple of minutes each side and then I let it rest. I only had one carrot, so I chopped that into a few chunks and roasted it for about 15 mins while cooking the onions and steak. I then prepared the potatoes and set them away boiling ready to be made into mash - I use [this](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/creamy-mash) recipe for the mash (I didn’t add any creme fraiche though as I didn’t have any!) I then made the gravy, I didn’t have any meat juices to work with, so used Morrison’s The Best Beef Gravy Granules - it’s the best granule gravy I’ve found (and I’ve used a few!). After making the gravy up in a jug I poured into the pan I cooked the steak in to get a bit of the meat flavour from the pan. After a couple of minutes in the steak pan I poured it into a pot and put it on a low heat. I chopped the steak into strips and added that to the gravy together with the onion and sliced roast carrot. I added some pepper, a touch of English mustard and also a teaspoon of mint sauce, as I like mint sauce (I know it’s meant to be for lamb, but who made the rules! If you like something then enjoy it I say). I left the meat gravy mixture on a low heat and then got some frozen green beans out, zapped them in the microwave, drained them when done and stuck them in the gravy concoction. For the Yorkshire pud I used [this](https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/best-yorkshire-puddings) recipe, it’s simple and does the job. I only used a quarter of the amount in that recipe as that makes loads of puds! I used [this](https://www.pricerunner.com/pl/461-4105626/Kitchen-Accessories/Le-Creuset-Shallow-Rectangular-Oven-Dishes-0.6-L-Compare-Prices) mini dish, I put some oil in and stuck it in the oven on a high heat for 5 minutes to get the oil nice and hot. When hot enough I took it out and added the pudding mixture and stuck it back in the oven for 15 mins or so. I have a glass oven door so can watch the pudding rise and brown to the level I like. While the pudding was cooking I mashed the spuds. Once the pudding was done I stuck it on a plate, poured the gravy mixture on, spooned the mash on, put a bit of gravy on top, cracked a bit of pepper on and tucked in. I know people are meant to have red wine with a Sunday Lunch but I had a nice cold IPA. 20 minutes later I was comatosed on the couch watching the footy, trying to stay awake lol.
