"Well that was an experience and not a good one unfortunately. Came in from Adelaide today thought by the reviews that the food would be ok. Had the soup, pumpkin, chips, beef cheeks, Atlantic Salmon none of which were edible. The worst meal ive had for a very long time. Flavours that didn't match and obviously the chef if that's what they are, which i doubt, don't understand salt or pepper because none was used in anything. I dont mind paying top dollar for good food but paying through the nose for rubbish really annoyed me."

"I should stress at the outset that this review and rating is as a pub only and not a reflection of the food as we didn’t eat there.The bar is like many bars in Australian hotels - pretty basic with high stools, gaming machines etc. and not designed to be able to sit in comfort for a quiet chat and drink. The main bar and restaurant is brightly lit and lined with plastic tables and chairs not unlike a club. It looked a bit like a McDonalds with a carpet and bar.They had a good and reasonably priced menu, and it was well patronised by local people eating, but because it lacked any restaurant atmosphere we only had a drink before moving along to somewhere more atmospheric to eat."

"Came for a quick dinner here whilst visiting Portland. I checked out the menu online before hand because I fancied pasta. One of the reasons I picked this pub was because their menu was easily accessible online, where other popular venues in the area were...not. We were not disappointed, the meals were quick, well priced and delicious. Pictured here are our mains; chicken korma and chicken, bacon and salami fettuccine. Also managed to sneak some sneaky Brandy Snaps!"

"We so enjoyed an wonderful 'Family Reunion ' lunch for 27 people on Easter Saturday. The food was fabulous, the service from the friendly staff was marvellous on a particularly busy day. Thankyou lovely folk at The Royal....we are sure to be returning customers."
