"This is a very friendly traditional pub, much favoured by residents of Royal Wootton Bassett. It's position just off the high street, near the town's famous old town hall which is raised up on pillars, is one of continuity with local history you can count on it to provid you with a traditional English pub experience. They have just updated their menu, this caters for all tastes, old and new and those with food allergies. They have an excellent choice of drinks, from cider, beer, spirits to a variety of modern coffees. Parking is not a problem, there is a large council car park available just around the corner outside the Sainsbury's supermarket, which is just a 5 minutes walk away, or you maybe lucky to find a free space on the street. Recommend a visit, for a drink or a meal. Am sure you'll receive a warm Wiltshire welcome."

"My disabled wife and I, oh yes and our cat, having been driving our motorhome for a few hours just happened across the lovely looking place, with a large flat car park. We pulled in on spec for a drink and as us motorhomers do, ask about staying overnight. We fully understand and respect either a yes or no. I opened the do of our van, for some unknown reason our cat decided she would jump out first, something she has never done before, and without hesitation headed straight into the bramble bushes next to where we had parked. This cat as any animal lover can understand is our soul mate. Straight away we tried to call, offer treats etc, but not a sound or sight. Anyway I wandered over to the bar area leaving my wife by the vehicle calling the cat. Firstly I bought two drinks, then asked the chap behind the bar about staying overnight. No came straight back, it's an insurance thing. Fair enough, oh but our cat has just gone missing so we may be here a while. Back to the van with the drinks, by now my tearful wife was getting more distressed. So I, we wandered back and forth, around this field area calling, shaking treats, still nothing. One or two walkers were very helpful in taking our number incase they saw her, suggested reporting it to the local vet as she is chipped, which we did. My wife's mantra had become we're not going anywhere without her. Good hour later, I went back into the bar to buy another drink. Different person said if it was up to them, we could stay, obviously them knowing the cat was still missing. Back to the van. So I began walking further afield, leaving my wife at the van. I was gone a good hour when my wife phoned to say the cat had returned. Overjoyed. Back to the van. Now here's the reason for the review. Whilst I'd been away, a person presumably the landlord had spoken to my wife and threatened that as we had been in the car park for more than 3 hours the pubs open all day) he would be calling the police and get us clamped unless we moved within the next half hour. My wife was in tears. I will say fortunately for him the cat returned, because otherwise he could have started ww3 so far as I'm concerned, but we we would have stayed put. Thank you The Sun ,Lydiard for your understanding and compassion. Whether or not this review puts any of your prospective new customers off, I don't care. WE WON'T BE BACK"

"One of the few places in swindon you can eat barbecue style. very happy with the portions and the quality of eating. the service was in order, though sometimes somewhat slow. bark brisket and pulled pork are excellent, and the philly cheesesteak is very nice. if they are after a challenge, the hahn from meat plate is a animal. make sure they have an appetit before the order!"

"We were attending a rugby match nearby and managed to get a table for 2 at very short notice for Sunday lunch which cost, with soft drinks, around £36. Whilst the food took longer than we'd have liked, it was 100% worth it! I had roast lamb which came with with superb roasties, cauliflower cheese, plenty of vegetables and the gravy was divine. I added a yorkshire pudding for 75p. My teen chose the steak and Stilton pie with chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Both meals were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this lovely place. Thank you. (And we made it to the rugby match in time with 2 mins to spare, in case the staff read this!"

"I'm lucky enough to live in walking distance and thanks to the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, I visit often. I rarely eat out though as I enjoy cooking at home but I've changed my opinion after tonight my cumberland sausage and mash at The Harvey was incredible and my partner's rump steak was amazingly tasty and perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend for food, drinks, friendly service, relaxed atmosohere, a game of pool and a good laugh"

"Tried to support local business during difficult times, Awful food, tasteless and chicken burger not cooked properly. Tried to overcharge us when collecting order and showing no customer care and insinuating lying ...expected me to retrieve food from external bin during covid 19!! Can of...fanta was the only thing enjoyable. Will never be returning. AVOID!!"
