"The Brewers set lunch menu is extraordinary value. Three beautiful courses for £25 is just brilliant once you know the quality of the food. The menu is ever evolving. We love that. There are usually favourites steak, burger, fish. But then there are seasonal surprises. This time I had a seat pudding which was exquisite full of rich flavours, delicate, immersed in a beautiful gravy. As veterans of the Brewers, we've loved seeing not just the evolution of the food (away from some of its over foodie obsessed predecessor chefs to something much more rooted in local produce and simple presentation. But we've loved seeing something else the superb service by Emma and Jess, understated, attentive, personal but not intrusive. They make the journey to Rattlesden well worth making. Regulars will know that I've reviewed the Brewers before. Yesterday was our umpteenth visit. And it was utterly perfect. Thanks to all the team who make this aspirational village pub/restaurant such a treat to visit. Oh, and border terrier Molly B loves it too. She's now part of the furniture."

"We knew the pub would be different under new management, and we were very open minded before checking it out, hoping to come out with a food experience given the apparent ‘hype’. Unfortunately, it’s a huge disappointment. Sports on a large tv, pool table, and slot machine looks as though you’re taken back 20 years ago. None of us felt really comfortable there, and really wouldn’t feel comfortable having an evening meal there. My friend wanted an orange juice lemonade but was given a orange juice and soda. I asked for a latte, they only do filter coffee. Not really an adequate selection of non alcoholic beverages, especially since it was lunchtime. To survive in today’s market, you need to cater to all no, it doesn’t have be a posh gastropub but you need a mix to cater for both the foodies and the drinkers. We all have our preferences, but this doesn’t really cater to anyone but the drinkers. A ‘village pub’ can be a lot of things. It doesn’t have to be something that only caters to one market. Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll be back. Also, they should really delete the reviews this pub received from the old management, a bit cheeky in my opinion using those to boost them up."

"We love the food at this pub so we came back again to have the pork belly, which when we had before was absolutely perfect, infact one of the best. Meat cooked to perfection and crispy fat/crackling. Unfortunately this time my partner was very disappointed...with his as the fat on the pork was very soft almost like it had been heated up in the microwave.I understand some pork dishes are fatty but this just wasn’t quite right. And because it was so good before we didn’t expect it to be so like this, working in hospitality myself I think it’s always good to give feedback good or bad, I did mention it but also being positive and saying my pie was just what I was craving, the manager did apologise and explain different chefs, different food quality, personally I think a little kind gesture like a coffee on the house is always a winner to get customers back if unhappy as food was poor quality, but the bill came at full price. No drink on the house or kind gesture . Feel like it was just shrugged off because I didn’t make a big enough fuss. The time before I was with a friend and fair enough it was a busy Monday lunch but we had to ask for the bill 3 times and a glass of water also 3 times. Service is hot and miss."
