"Can't believe we have been going to the area or months and only just found this Gem. The food was freshly cooked and plenty of it the batter mmmmmm so crisp and light . Portions very generous I think I need a smaller portion as despite my best efforts I couldn't eat it all. Yes its busy waiting outside would be bad in the rain but take a brolly it's worth it Just wish it wasn't a 2bhour drive away from us."

"We came here whilst on our family holiday and I cannot fault anything about the place. The food was excellent, with 5 out of 6 of us having burgers and 1 having the cod and chips, everything was presented beautifully and piping hot. Staff were also wonderful and very friendly, we had a fire alarm occur toward the end of our meal and straight away once we returned into the pub we were asked if we needed new meals or if anything needing reheating. All round great meal."

"Had a first class fillet steak cooked to perfection such a shame the chips were frozen and not homemade and at £30 had to pay extra for vegetables!!!"

"OK, so for many years, prior to the M5 being built (and that 's a long, long time ago) this is a pub we used to pass on the A361 between Ilfracombe and Warwickshire and it was always somewhere I wanted my dad to stop at. We never did. Now I am a big boy (in more ways than one) I decided to give it a go on a very wet Thursday lunchtime. Now, when you used to walk in to a pub the greeting used to be, good afternoon or maybe hello sir . Nope, we received from the youth behind the bar a, hello guys what can I get you? Now I know it is 2024 not 1994 (more 's the pity maybe) but take it from someone who did bar work very well for over ten years, that 's not now you meet and greet customers you haven 't met before. No, no, no, no!! I ordered drinks ammused how the operative held the glass when pouring a pint. Certainly a new one on me. Sort of how you hold your hand whilst holding a skull, when you say, Allas poor Yorik, I knew him well . We ordered sandwiches with bread made by chef. It didn 't say when he/she/they made it, but if 'fresh bread ' was written on the menu, it would have been a fib, a big one. The bread was microwave warm but I think this was an attempt to revive it, a bit like when you give someone mouth to mouth resusitation but with a microwave. It didn 't work anyway and neither did cutting off most of the crusts to disguise it 's advanced age. We left some loose change on the table hoping that the funds would go towards some bleach to clean the unisex bog. What a big let down after all those years driving by Won 't stop again and certainly won 't be back."

"Andy was very helpful changed rooms so that we had them next to each other, rooms were of a good size and clean as the bathroom. breakfast we had full English with tea coffee and juice, it would have been nice to have made it and obstinate, but about all very happy with our visit."

"Absolutely beautiful place! The breakfast was amazing! The owner was so friendly and genuine, we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. The pig and wheel was spotless with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We felt it was such a shame we hadn’t booked for two nights as we were so tired we went straight to bed. The atmosphere in the bar when we got there was fab and friendly, gutted we didn’t have the energy to go back down and enjoy it. Absolutely beautiful views that stretched for miles. Such a beautiful find. We shall look no further when we visit nestling areas! 10/10 five stars :"

"A great place to visit. Clive made me feel so welcome. It was like I'd walked into my local pub of many years. And the food cooked by Trish; an incredibly tasty vegan curry. If I'm ever in the area I would not hesitate to stop here again."
