"... the food didn't taste us. We would have expected that here, with the many positive guests recommendations. But maybe we just got a bad day and the chef had a representation. Where the owner who has been operating this inn for almost 40 years and who has served us himself had to see that the fried sauce is simply not part of a hunter's carving. Too bad, as we were so excited about the traditional and regional cuisine, in the guest house “Zum Stern”. But beforehand a few short sentences to agree. The “Zum Stern” inn, already in the seventh generation, is located in the middle of the North Hessisches Fachwerkdorf “Hümme” near the district town of Hofgeismar, at the foot of the Reinhardswald and is a typical village guest house. In addition to the regional cuisine, accommodation facilities are offered here. The idyllic guest house is not exactly small from the place offering and has a restaurant in old tradition, as you knew it from the 80 years to drink a beer quickly. There is also a separate dining room, with space for 30 people (where we have eaten), a club room and a hall for events with up to 150 people. Everything was neat, clean and very beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and already radiates a certain feel-good atmosphere when entering the atmosphere. We stayed in the guest house “Zum Stern”, on a Saturday afternoon to dinner and had two different carving dishes for approx. €13, with an associated salad. Actually, not special where you can make a lot of mistakes. The food came after a relatively short time, which had already wondered us a bit and did not look badly (see photo). I had ordered a hunter's carving with pommes and my wife had a cream carving with croquettes. But what did not fit at all with my carving and even not tasted at all was the very thin brown sauce from a (probably) bag or tetrapak, which was already visually considered to fit more for a roast. Compared to the hunter's carvings I know, I didn't like it at all and did not enjoy my palate in any way. Also the Rahm sauce, with my wife, was a cheapest thin-liquid ready-pack sauce. As we know the Rahm sauce, it must be much thicker (sämiger). Furthermore, my scavenger was overgrown and guaranteed to have been fried a long time ago, so that after a really long time, I did not eat everything. What really tasted me was the fresh mushrooms. Sorry, this had nothing to do with taste, which and this can be very different with the guests, but from us there is no question and we will not try again. After this criticism, however, we would like to get rid of a praise of the service that has delighted and entertained us with its kindness/hostility."
At Zum Stern from Huemme it's possible to try delicious vegetarian menus, that were made without any animal meat or fish, But the main feature here are the traditional German meals with accompanying sides like fries and salads. If you decide to come for breakfast, you are offered a tasty brunch.
